Transmission fluid temperature is the single biggest contributing factor to the lifespan of your 1st Gens automatic transmission. As our trannies did not have a lock up torque converter like the 1994 and newer 2nd gens, the trannies in our 1st gens tend to run hot under towing and in higher horsepower conditions. Having an accurate, realtime measurement allows you to know when to downshift or when to take your foot out of it. Whether you’re towing or simply trying to harness the power of your new turbo, a trans temp gauge will give you the most accurate possible measurement for the exact temp of your trans fluid.
