If your belt tensioner is squeaking, or the pulley is worn, then you need a new belt tensioner. While one can replace just the pulley wheel, our experience has been that the pulley spring after 30 years, becomes tired and can actually cause some of the issues your engine may have been experiencing.
Why do we offer both the Gates and the Cummins tensioners? Unlike many companies, we actually use the products we sell and therefore have 1st hand experience with our products. We have used both the Gates, and the Cummins tensioners on various trucks and have found the Gates to be a good bang for the buck, but it does not carry the same durability the Cummins units do. As we know many are on a budget, we do offer the Gates unit as they are still decent units.
